S. A. College of Arts & Science’s Department of Physical Education organized the University of Madras Inter-Zone Men’s Best Physique, Men’s and Women’s Powerlifting, and Men’s and Women’s Weightlifting Tournament 2024-2025 at the SACAS Campus on 26/10/2024. In this tournament, the Men’s Best Physique competition was conducted at the SACAS Auditorium with 8 categories. The welcome address was given by Mr. G. Sivamaran, Director of Physical Education. A special address was delivered by the beloved Principal, Dr. Malathi Selvakumar, who also presented a shawl to the special guest, Mr. Baskaran, Arjuna awardee, Mr. Universe, Mr. India, and President of TABBA. M. Arasu, M.A., Chairman of TABBA, and K. Balamurugan, General Secretary of TABBA, were also honored. V. Jayaprakash, Mr. World, was also recognized. Additionally, Tamil Nadu Weightlifting and Powerlifting officials were honored. Over 300 students from various colleges of the University of Madras participated in this tournament.Our college’s top female weightlifter, pR.V.Oviya from 1st BSC NFSM&D won the gold medal in the 45kg category, and R.Aswini from 2nd BCOM BM won the gold medal in the women’s powerlifting competition in the 63kg category.
