The PG Department of Commerce (General) successfully organized a guest lecture program titled “Constitutional Campus: Navigating Democracy Day” on September 26, 2024, at the SF14. The event aimed to instill a deeper understanding of democracy and its principles among students and faculty while fostering active engagement in democratic practices. The program began with an inspiring Human Rally, showcasing the spirit of unity and democratic values. Following the rally, all participants took a solemn Democracy Pledge, emphasizing their commitment to upholding the principles of democracy in their daily lives. The event was graced by esteemed speakers who shared their expertise and insights on democracy and its relevance in today’s society: Dr. Karthick, Advocate: Delivered an enlightening talk on the legal and constitutional aspects of democracy, focusing on the role of individuals in safeguarding democratic rights. Mr. Nammala Krishna, District Youth Officer: Spoke on the importance of youth participation in democratic processes and how young minds can drive positive change in society. Mrs. A. Meenakshi Sundari, M.A. in Sociology: Highlighted the sociological dimensions of democracy, including inclusivity, diversity, and the role of education in nurturing democratic citizens.

The program concluded with a Speech Competition, where participants eloquently expressed their views on topics related to democracy. The competition saw enthusiastic participation, and the winners were awarded prizes to honor their efforts and insights. The guest lecture program was a resounding success, with active participation from students, faculty, and guests. It provided a platform to explore the significance of democracy and its application in real-life scenarios. The event not only enhanced the knowledge and understanding of democracy but also encouraged attendees to contribute actively towards a more inclusive and democratic society.
