Department of Visual Communication Hosts Value-Added Course “Script to Screen” at SACAS

The Department of Visual Communication in association with the Placement Cell of S.A. College of Arts and Science successfully conducted a five-day Value-Added Course titled “Script to Screen” from 7th to 11th July 2025. The course was facilitated by renowned screenwriter and actor Sab John Edathattil, known for his acclaimed works in Malayalam and Tamil cinema.

The program aimed to enhance participants’ understanding of cinematic storytelling, screenwriting techniques, and industry practices. With over 165 participants, including 135 internal students and 30 external delegates from institutions such as Vels University, EGS Pillai College, and Government Medical College Hospital, the course saw enthusiastic participation.

Each day was thematically structured—ranging from cinematic story worlds, character development, and conflict to screenplay structure and pitching. Students engaged in interactive lectures, practical assignments, film screenings including Chanakyan, King’s Speech, Guna, and Casablanca, and in-depth Q&A sessions. The sessions were efficiently coordinated by faculty members under the leadership of Dr. Srinivasan R. (HoD), Prof. R.D. Balaji (Course Director), and Dr. K.S. Prabakar (Placement Director).

The course culminated in a valedictory session where feedback was presented, certificates were distributed, and a detailed report was shared by Dr. Sheik Mohamed. Students expressed that the program enriched their creative and narrative skills while bridging the gap between theory and practice in screenwriting.

The department extended heartfelt gratitude to the management, including the Principal Dr. Malathi Selvakkumar and Correspondent Mr. P. Venkatesh Raja, for their constant support in making the event a grand success.
