SACAS Celebrates Pi Approximation Day with Insightful Session and Student Activities

The Department of Mathematics, in collaboration with the Mathelets Club of S.A. College of Arts & Science, organized Pi Approximation Day on July 18, 2025, at the college premises.

The event commenced with a warm welcome and the introduction of the Chief Guest by Dr. G. Ambika, Head of the Department of Mathematics. The highlight of the day was an engaging and informative session by Dr. Dhanalakshmi K., Assistant Professor at SRM Institute of Science & Technology, Kattankulathur. She delivered a thought-provoking talk on the historical and practical use of fractions in Pi approximation, emphasizing the significance of Pi as a fundamental constant in mathematics.

The session enhanced students’ understanding of Pi and its real-world applications. A poster presentation competition was also conducted, encouraging student participation and creativity. The event was both educational and inspiring for all attendees.
