On September 5th, 2025, a program called “Empower Yourself & Empower Others” was held at the SACAS Auditorium to help people learn about investing. This event was put together by the Department of Commerce Computer Application and Fin Edu Connect, and was managed by Mr. Shameel Thomas, who is in charge of organizing programs for the group. This happened between 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM..

Overview of the Program:

The main goal of the program was to teach people the basics of investing, the value of planning their finances, and how gaining financial knowledge can positively impact their community. Mr. Shameel Thomas stressed the importance of being financially knowledgeable in our rapidly changing economy.

Understanding Financial Literacy:

Mr. Thomas started by talking about what financial literacy is and why it’s important for both individuals and communities to manage their money well. He pointed out that financial literacy involves more than just handling money; it’s also about knowing how money functions in the economy.
