On January 29th, 2024. The department of B.Com CA in association with Nehru Yuva Kendra organized a Road safety awareness campaign and volunteering support for Road traffic on 29.01.2024

Road safety is a safety measure to reduce the risk of road accidents and road side injury because of the mistakes of people while driving on the road. We cannot count the daily road side accidents and death of people because of the driving mistakes and lack of road traffic rules followers. Every person going on the road has risk of injury or death.

A rally on Road Safety Awareness was organized as part of the Road Safety week by   Mr.Aswin, NYKS, NYV, Selection Committee member, started the rally, followed  by 50 students of B.Com CA from Kaduvetti Government hospital  to SACAS and the programme continued by a short speech by Mr Chanramouli Traffic Police Inspector,  Poonamalle. in his session he conveyed about Awareness on the road is very important for our safety and safety of others”. He discussed the statistics of various types of road accidents and explained the reasons that lead to these accidents. He further gave examples of various types of traffic violations. The session was very interactive with the students The volunteers were given T- Shirts, Badges and Caps for the rally.

Every year many people lose their life in road accidents in our country. The human cost is immeasurable as is the economic burden it puts on the families of the deceased/injured persons. In such a situation, a collective awakening to road safety is required. Initiatives focused on public education, strengthened enforcement of traffic regulations, and the development of safer infrastructure are crucial to reverse this alarming trend. Towards this objective, Government of India observes National Road Safety Week from 11-17th January every year. 

 The main purpose of the programme to coordinate with Traffic Police department to provide opportunity for youth to be trained on Road Safety norms. To facilitate collaboration with Traffic police department to enable trained student’s volunteers to become part of traffic management during National Road Safety Week and to Conduct locally relevant intensive road safety awareness activities to enable awareness generation among public.
