Department of Psychology WABI – SABI In observance of World Suicide Prevention Day, our Department of Psychology has organized a meaningful MIME performance aimed at spreading awareness about suicide prevention and the importance of mental health.
The performances are scheduled to be held tomorrow, 23rd August 2025, at 4:30 PM, at two significant community locations. For this purpose, the students will be split into two groups, so that the message can be simultaneously conveyed in both places:
📍 Avadi Lake Park
📍 Ayyapakkam Park
This MIME is crafted to communicate a strong social message without the use of words. The silent performance seeks to highlight themes of hope, resilience, support, and the value of every individual life. Through this creative form of expression, we aim to break the silence that often surrounds the subject of suicide and encourage people to reflect on the importance of empathy and timely support. Our central objective is to emphasize that no one is ever truly alone, and that reaching out for help can make a profound difference. Mental health challenges are real and widespread, but so is the power of compassion, listening, and human connection. The performance is not only an act of awareness but also a reminder that conversations about mental health should never be hidden or ignored.
By choosing public spaces for this initiative, and performing as two groups simultaneously, we intend to reach more members of the community and spread the message more effectively. This initiative represents our department’s commitment to fostering awareness, encouraging understanding, and spreading the message of hope. Through this effort, we reaffirm the belief that every life is precious, every struggle matters, and every voice deserves to be heard. Let this performance stand as a symbol of our collective responsibility to create a society where support, empathy, and hope prevail over silence, stigma, and despair.
