The department of Visual Communication organised a workshop on ‘Basics in Perspective Drawing, Basic 2D Animation, and 2D Animation Principles’ on 27 August 2023 in the CG Lab of SA College of Arts and Science from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mr. Goutham M, a User Interface Designer in HUDE, Haryana, was the chief resource person. Head of the Department, Dr. R Srinivasan welcomed the guest. Mr.Ziegen Paul Introduced the Guest, and Mr. Noah Ruben Immanuel delivered the vote of thanks on behalf of the staff and students.

Intercollegiate competition organized by All India Radio, Chennai

12 students from the Department of Visual Communication to Ethiraj College for Women on 25 August 2023 to participate in the Intercollegiate competition organised by All India Radio, Chennai in association with Ethiraj College on 24 and 25 August 2023. The students are competing in the Group Dance, Solo Dance, Oratorical, Short Film, and Solo Singing categories.


The Department of Psychology has actively participated in a collaborative effort with Lets Reinforce on ‘Livelihood enhancement’

The Department of Psychology of S.A. College of Arts & Science has actively participated in a collaborative effort with Lets Reinforce, a non-governmental organization focused on 'Livelihood enhancement', to promote and sell their products within the campus community. The main aim of this initiative is to enhance the livelihood of roadside vendors to boost their income generation. Pikki mikki is an initiative of the non-profit organization that helps procure the products. Students from the Department of Psychology actively participated in this inititaive.

The collaboration between the Department of Psychology and NGO Let’s Reinforce exemplifies our commitment to social responsibility and community engagement. By providing a platform for the sale of NGO products, we have contributed to their fundraising efforts while raising awareness about their mission. This initiative stands as a testament to the positive impact that can be achieved through strategic collaborations between academic institutions and social organizations.

 


Awareness Program on Plastic Waste Management- Department of B.com.CA

Introduction: An awareness program on plastic waste management was organized on August 24, 2023, with the objective of educating the community about the importance of responsible plastic waste disposal. The event was conducted in collaboration with Bisleri International Private Limited, one of the leading companies in the beverage industry. The chief guest for the event was Mr. Dhanasekar Srinivasan, Executive CSR, and Mr. Iyyappan Janakiraman, Executive CSR, both from Bisleri International Private Limited.

Event Details: The awareness program was held SACAS and was attended by students and teachers. The program commenced at 10:00 AM and lasted until 12:00 PM.

Inauguration and Welcome Address:

The event began with a formal inauguration ceremony, during which the chief guest, Mr. Dhanasekar Srinivasan, and Mr. Iyyappan Janakiraman were welcomed on stage.
The organizers extended their gratitude to Bisleri International Private Limited for their partnership and support in conducting the event.

Keynote Speeches:

Mr. Dhanasekar Srinivasan delivered a keynote speech on the significance of plastic waste management and its impact on the environment.
Mr. Iyyappan Janakiraman shared insights on Bisleri International Private Limited's initiatives towards sustainable packaging and recycling.
Presentation on Plastic Waste Management:

A comprehensive presentation was delivered by a team of environmental experts who provided an overview of plastic waste management techniques, including reduce, reuse, and recycle.
They highlighted the adverse effects of improper plastic waste disposal and suggested alternative eco-friendly materials.

Interactive Sessions and Workshops:

Engaging interactive sessions and workshops were conducted to educate the participants on the segregation, collection, and recycling of plastic waste.
Practical demonstrations were carried out, showcasing creative ways to repurpose plastic waste into useful products.

Panel Discussion:
The panel addressed queries from the audience and discussed strategies for effective plastic waste management at individual and community levels.

Conclusion: The awareness program on plastic waste management, organized in collaboration with Bisleri International Private Limited, proved to be highly successful in creating awareness among the participants about responsible plastic waste disposal. The valuable insights shared by the speakers, interactive sessions, and workshops contributed to increasing the knowledge and understanding of the attendees on the importance of sustainable practices. The department of computer science with artificial intelligence is organized the ” Initiation into AI Studies” an induction  program

The department of computer science with artificial intelligence is organized the " Initiation into AI Studies" an induction  program .Use of AI studied as a regular course was highlighted. The importance of core skills like programming and Data architecture was prioritized over mere use of AI tools.
Robotics, Virtual reality, Augmented reality, Distributed Systems and Quantum computing were introduced to students and the AI components in them or the use of the technology in AI were discussed to give the students the idea of vast scope AI .
The students were immensely involved throughout the session.


A Human Chain Formation in Connection with World Organ Donation Day on 23.08.2023

The Department of Computer Science & Applications of S. A. College of Arts & Science, organized A Human Chain Formation in Connection with World Organ Donation Day. It centered around the crucial theme of organ donation and took place on 23rd August, 2023 at the S.A.E.C. Gate. The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of organ donation, dispel myths, and encourage attendees to become organ donors. Around 300 students participated.

The Department of Computer Science & Applications of S. A. College of Arts & Science, organized an Awareness Session on Organ Donation for celebrating World Organ Donation Day centered around the crucial theme of organ donation. The session took place on 23rd August, 2023 at the Preview Theatre. The Resource Person for this session was Dr. Hemal Kanvinde Quality Assurance Officer, MOHAN Foundation, Chennai-10, (along with Mr. Ganesh), who shared her(their) insights on the significance or organ donation.
The programme started with a welcome address by Mr. P. Chandrasekar, Assistant Professor & Head, Department of Computer Science & Applications. Ms. Guru Karthika from II B.Sc. CS introduced the Resource Person Dr. Hemal Kanvinde. Nearly 180 students attended the session.
A series of engaging discussions with the audience, these discussions shed light on the medical aspects of organ transplantation, the emotional journeys of recipients awaiting transplantation, and the selfless contributions of donor families. Personal stories shared by the speaker(s) underscored the transformative impact of organ donation on individuals and families alike. The event also featured quite engaging interactions, and a Question and Answer session that aimed to educate students about the misconceptions surrounding organ donation, to clarify doubts, and engage in open discussions with the speaker. Attendees had the chance to register as donors on the spot, marking a concrete step towards increasing the pool of potential donors.
As a result, the students who took part in the session were equipped with accurate information and a heightened sense of responsibility towards saving lives through organ donation. This event served as a reminder that each person has the power to make a profound impact on the lives of others, even beyond their lifetime. The event concluded with a strong call to action, urging attendees to pledge their support for organ donation.
Finally, Akilan from II B.Sc. CS delivered the vote of thanks. Master of Ceremony was done by Henry Anthony from II BCA.

The programme was organised by the Rotaract Club of SACAS, Department of English, Computer Science & Applications. Mr. M. Vignesh Kumar, faculty coordinator of Rotaract Club of SACAS coordinated the formation. This innovative gesture highlighted the vibrant spirit of S. A.
