The grand screening of the Rameswaram International Film Festival on 14.09.2023
The Department of Visual Communication hosted the grand screening of the Rameswaram International Film Festival on 14 September 2023 from 2:15 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Preview Theatre of SA College of Arts and Science. The trailer launch of Veeman and the screening of three international short films were conducted. Little Turtle, Life on Edge, and Food & Design were the movies that were screened. The students had the opportunity to speak to the directors and crew members of the film over Skype.
G20 INTERCOLLEGIATE COMPETITIONS 2023
The short film 'Aval' directed by Mr. Suryaprakash of II BSc Visual Communication bagged the second prize in the short film competition at the G20 INTERCOLLEGIATE COMPETITIONS 2023 organised by All India Radio and Ethiraj College. The students competed with entries from 30+ colleges across South India. The team received the award from Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan, honourable Governor of Telangana and Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry on 03 September 2023. 15 Students and 2 faculty members (Dr. R Srinivasan and Mr. Ziegen Paul) were present for the Award Ceremony held at Vani Mahal.

The award winning short film 'Aval' directed by Mr. Suryaprakash of II BSc Visual Communication was screened in the preview theatre of SA College of Arts and Science on 30 August 2023. Honourable correspondent of the college Mr. P Venkatesh Raja, Director Dr. V Sayi Sathyavathi and Principal Dr. Malathi Selvakkumar attended the screening.

The Department of Visual Communication of SA College of Arts and Science organised a Social Media De-Addiction Awareness Programme on 30.08.2023. The awareness programme began with a student rally which began from the gates of Sudarshanam Vidyashram to SA College. The students gave a public speech on the dangers of Social Media Addiction. Later a Mime performed by the students of the Viscom department exposed the dangers caused by Social Media. Honourable Correspondent of the College, Mr. P Venkatesh Raja, Principal Dr. Malathi Selvakkumar, and Director Dr. V Sayi Sathyavathi attended the mime performance.

The department of Visual Communication organised a workshop on ‘Basics in Perspective Drawing, Basic 2D Animation, and 2D Animation Principles’ on 27 August 2023 in the CG Lab of SA College of Arts and Science from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mr. Goutham M, a User Interface Designer in HUDE, Haryana, was the chief resource person. Head of the Department, Dr. R Srinivasan welcomed the guest. Mr.Ziegen Paul Introduced the Guest, and Mr. Noah Ruben Immanuel delivered the vote of thanks on behalf of the staff and students.

Intercollegiate competition organized by All India Radio, Chennai
12 students from the Department of Visual Communication to Ethiraj College for Women on 25 August 2023 to participate in the Intercollegiate competition organised by All India Radio, Chennai in association with Ethiraj College on 24 and 25 August 2023. The students are competing in the Group Dance, Solo Dance, Oratorical, Short Film, and Solo Singing categories.
A two-day VFX and Maya Bootcamps on 14 and 21 August 2023
The Department of Visual Communication organised A two-day VFX and Maya Bootcamps on 14 and 21 August 2023 in the CG Lab of SA College of Arts and Science from 2 to 4 pm. Two resource persons from Image Creative Education handled sessions. Mr. Ram Shreyas from the Department of VFX handled the session on VFX on 14 August 2023 and Mr. Dinesh Kumar from the Department of 3D handled the session on Maya on 21 August 2023. All the students from the three batches were present on the 14th and the students from the third BSc Visual Communication could not attend the session on the 21st as they had to upskill the workshop for career progression.

Birasmunda International Film Awards jointly organised the BIFA
The Department of Visual Communication of SA College of Arts and Science and Birasmunda International Film Awards jointly organised the BIFA July Month's Grand Screening at the preview theatre of SACAS from 10 am to 4 pm. Mr. Sarkunam, director of Kalavani, and Vaagai Sooda Vaa, Mr.Vignesh Raja director of Por Thozhil, Mr.Sridhar, cinematographer of movies including Aayirathil Ouvan, Mayakkan Enna, Irandam Ulagam, Pariyerum Perumal, Kazhuvethi Moorkkan were the guests of honour.

Through your eyes by Alessandro Montiel (Canada), The world has an end by Mudasir Zafar Batt (India), Revolution X by Matthew Philip Cannon (UK), Dojo by Armin Alic (USA), A Dark Life by Anill Routh (India), I Am Not Down by Jyoti Madnani Singh (India), The Relapse by Naren Singh Nayak (India), Blue Paper Cranes by Wenjing LI (China), Speculum by Milena Adrianna Hübscher (USA), Saathi Varuthu by Ramesh Kannan (India), Farewell to myself by Shixiong Luo (China), Zonderwater by Jonathan Soverchia (Italy), and Emergency Call by Carmelo Rosario Ramos (Puerto Rico) were the movies which were screened. Dr. R Srinivasan, head of the Department of Visual Communication presided over the inaugural function. More than 15 external delegates attended these special screenings.
Live Production with Blackmagic Design Product and Introduction to Davinci Resolve Workshop
The Department of Visual Communication of SA College of Arts and Science in association with Proserve Business Solutions jointly organised a one-day workshop 'Live Production with Blackmagic Design Product and Introduction to Davinci Resolve' on 19 July 2024. The workshop was conducted between 11 am to 3 pm at the Preview Theatre of SACAS. Mr. Gotham Raj, Mr. Shiva Sagar, Mr. Mathivannan, and Mr. Vasan were the resource persons. All the students from the first, second, and third BSc Visual Communication Batches jointly attended the workshop. The students were highly involved in the interactive workshop which opened new frontiers in the field of Visual Communication.
