THE DIRECTOR’S CUT – INTERCOLLEGIATE SYMPOSIA

The Department of Visual Communication of SA College of Arts and Science organised symposia ‘The Director’s Cut: A week of Film, Fun, and Learning’ from 27 February 2023 to 3 March 2023.

  • Day One: SP MUTHURAMAN

SP Muthuraman’s symposium had information about the important details and points that must be taken into account during casting and management of the filming schedule of the actors. 50 delegates from other colleges attended the lecture along with the 150 delegates from SACAS.

 

  • Day Two: SATISH CHANDRASEKHARAN

Mr. Satish Chandrasekharan’s symposium was a guide for a talented and skilled fresher to make it big in the industry. Mr. Sathish Chandrasekharan has over 12 years of experience in feature films, web series, advertisements, and corporate experience. He is a writer, director, and producer who has made his mark in the industry

 

  • Day Three: RASI AZHAGAPPAN

Mr. Rasi Azhagappan’s, symposium took the delegates on a very unique and personal journey about how movies can motivate a person and give them a sense of purpose. It helped the delegates to choose the right movies to watch and derive motivation to move forward in life. Rasi Alagappan is one of the most influential directors in the Indian film industry.

 

  • Day Four: ANIS

Mr. Anis has one of the most prolific careers out there when you consider his age and what he was able to achieve in a very short period. Mr. Anis hails from Theni district, Cumbum.

 

  • Day Five: CHIMBU DEVAN

Mr. Chimbu Devan is also known as a writer, cartoonist, and screenwriter. His films mostly explore fantasy and historical genres and also comedy. He debuted with the historical comedy-drama film Imsai Arasan 23 M Pulikesi. He started his career as an assistant director on Cheran’s 2000 film Vetri Kodi Kattu. His first independent direction opportunity came from S Pictures with the 2006 film Imsai Arasan 23rd Pulikecei.

A total of 200 internal and delegates regularly attended the symposium on all five days.
